​​The Fold - Junior Development Executive

Full Time Fixed Term Contract 

Contract Dates: 1st June 2026 - 29th January 2027 (8 months with the option to extend) 

Remuneration: Total Contract Value: £21,871 (gross) inc 12.07% Holiday Pay (8 months - Annual salary of £33,740 pro-rated)

Location: Remote/Work From Home role with some in-person attendance to be mutually agreed

Job Role:

The role of our Junior Development Executive is to support the organisation in the sourcing of new narrative feature film material within the genres of horror, sci-fi and comedy, identifying writers and directors for collaboration and bringing new projects and talent onto the film slate of the company.

Key tasks:

Script Development & Content Evaluation:

  • ⁠Proactively sourcing and reviewing submissions of narrative feature film ideas, scripts, treatments and associated materials 

  • Providing concise coverage assessing creative potential and market viability of new projects and talent 

  • ⁠Bringing forward new, viable film ideas from IP sources such as novels, short stories and articles 

  • Checking and confirming rights ownership of IP

Industry Research & Talent Engagement:

  • ⁠Keeping up to date with industry news, festival selections and emerging talent 

  • Establishing and managing relationships with writers, directors, agents and industry peers (in person, by phone and via email)

Submissions Tracking & Data Management:

  • ⁠Maintaining an up-to-date log of all incoming submissions 

  • Updating and storing records in line with data protection legislation

Meetings & Internal Communication:

  • ⁠Organising meetings with external talent, agents and partners, and taking notes 

  • ⁠Attending slate meetings and updating founders on the status of submissions

Administrative & Operational Support:

  • ⁠Supporting founders with administrative tasks, including travel booking, festival submissions and funding applications

Professional Representation & Compliance:

  • ⁠Representing the company professionally to external parties 

  • Ensuring compliance with all company policies

Person Specification:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the industry either in producing short films, working in house at another production company, reading submissions for other organisations etc, (essential)

  • Proficient in Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sheets and word processing skills (essential)

  • Attention to detail and good analytical skills to be able to assess projects (essential)

  • Awareness of talent both emerging and established within the Independent film industry (essential)

  • Applicant must be able to evidence their right to work in the UK (essential)

  • Desire to progress as a Producer within independent film industry, (desirable)

  • Basic knowledge of the international independent film landscape and market trends within the genres of horror, sci-fi and comedy (desirable) 

  • Basic understanding of financing structures and partners roles within the film value chain eg Broadcasters, Sales Agents, Financiers, Film Festivals etc (desirable)
